The Omens
The Omens, 2025
Waxed Cast Iron
Drawn from a dream, this collection of cast iron forms subconsciously evokes the anthropomorphic works of the pre-classic Maya. Their tactile weight is grounding, conforming naturally to the shape of the human hand and body and regulating the mind through touch. Durable and modular, they have functioned as a tool for performance: demanding to be fit together into Babelesque structures, a game of cooperation rather than competition.

This 26-piece set was produced over the duration of more than a year and represents the first complete edition of their kind, and each has been marked accordingly. Every piece bears minor surface variations that result from their deliberate and meticulous hand-finishing process. They have been treated with wax to resist rust; however, care is recommended to protect them from prolonged exposure to moisture.
Antes de saber nombrar el universo, Galel ya modelaba sus formas con las manos. Desde la plastilina blanda de la infancia hasta el hierro que hoy da cuerpo a sus criaturas, ha construido un lenguaje sin diccionario, hecho de curvas improbables, de cuerpos que no existen pero que reconocemos. Es un alfabeto de figuras que no buscan representar, sino evocar: torsos sin rostro, estrellas blandas, extremidades que no responden a la anatomía pero que parecen moverse cuando nadie las ve. Su evolución ha sido un tránsito del juego íntimo a la materia densa; de la maleabilidad infantil al peso concreto del metal, sin perder nunca la libertad del origen.
Ahora esas formas reposan sobre una cobija militar que perteneció a su bisabuelo en la segunda guerra mundial, tejido de guerra que aquí se vuelve lecho para la imaginación. Una pecera de vidrio las protege, no como un encierro, sino como quien guarda algo vivo. El hierro —duro, frío, rotundo — se vuelve juguete de colección bajo esa cúpula frágil. El contraste es deliberado: entre la historia de la violencia y la invención de un mundo; entre lo que encierra y lo que quiere salir. Porque este bestiario no quiere ser contemplado en silencio, sino tocado, movido, jugado. Es un universo que palpita bajo el cristal, buscando grietas por donde escapar y recordarnos que aún podemos inventar formas nuevas de mirar.

Oil-Based Clay (Waiting to be Cast)Dreamt forms reproduce, as radial symmetry slowly becomes the norm. Intended to be molded and cast in a variety of materials (including wax, glass, bronze, iron, plastic, and silicone) they exist in a softly ephemeral state where deformation is a constant threat as they await immortalization.
